As an English Major I enjoyed reading Ironies and Satires in literature, but now I see them more and more in everyday life. I believe God watches us and laughs and laughs. Life is the greatest sitcom ever.

More iPod Adventures!

Published by sesasha at 8:14 pm under Computers, Consumer Electronics, Life Edit This

My iPod is kind of old, for electronic gizmos. I’ve had it for 3 1/2 years, and though it still runs fabulously, the battery life leaves something to be desired at this point. I used to be able to run it for 8 hours, and now I’m lucky if it stays on for an hour, but I don’t use it much with the ear buds anymore, so it’s kind of a moot point. So this morning, I get online and decide that while I’m answering questions, I want to listen to some comedy. I’m thinking Brian Regan will be a fabulous time this morning and so I plug my iPod into the USB port on my computer and there isn’t enough charge to boot it. And while it’s connected to the computer, it won’t stay off long enough to charge to the point where it can boot. And once I finally get it charged (by going out to my car and plugging into the cigarette lighter for a couple of hours) and suddenly it won’t boot the original iPod firmware; it only boots Rockbox. Now don’t get me wrong, Rockbox is fine, but I like seeing the tags on my songs so I know who sings them. I also like watching the few movies that are on my iPod and the original interface is just easier to use so I’m getting irritated. And further irritation ensues when I try to change it to disk mode and change it back, thinking that maybe that will make it boot to the original firmware. Finally, the boy gets home from work, (and this is roughly 10 hours from the beginning of this adventure) and I hand the thing to him, because if I don’t, I might just throw it through the window. In 10 minutes, he manages to fix it. I don’t know how he did it. I love that I married such an electronically handy guy, but, um, screw that!
