There are Days, and There are Days
Today is one of those days that makes me happy. Overall, the day was fine, and I wasn’t having one of those days that makes me want to hide in a cave. That’s not really unusual, in spite of the name of my blog. Today was a particularly excellent day in that after I finished my work for the day, I sat down with my laptop and turned on Eclipse so I could start working on my Android application, and today I had a stroke of genius. That doesn’t happen often, so when it does I get all happy. I don’t have much experience in programming and I’m very slowly learning Java, but this was one of those days when everything was starting to work for me. I love it. Here is my daily observation: the only way to learn a programming language (like any language really) is to immerse yourself in it and try to figure it out, rather than learning a bunch of inane rules that you may or may not ever use. I studied French, I lived in France and I still can’t use passe simple. When I see it I recognize it, but it’s never something you say.
